Top Four Reasons to create an Organised Home

Having an organised home is not simply about being tidy! Nor is it about being perfect or having a ‘one size fits all' answer. It's about creating the best solutions for your own lifestyle, family and household.

The sole reason for getting organised is to create a better quality of life. For most of us that involves having more time, space, money or energy. Or perhaps all four! Exactly how does being organised convert to more of these precious things in our life?

Time

Giving everything a place - and putting it back after you've used it - cuts down on wasted searching time (&stress!) Streamlining household processes equates to more time for you.

As an example: Ironing in batches - or sending it to be done in batches - can reduce your morning preparation time of by up to 25%. This is cut down further with an organised kitchen (lunches made), organised garage (car easily accessed), hallway area (all things needed for the day easily on hand) and key spot (no more lost keys!) Five minutes saved on each one, each day adds up to over 4 hours per week for you!

Space

It's not the size of your space - it's how you use it! Organising each area of your home for its specific purpose, maximizes the usefulness of the area and keeps you clear about what you really need to have there.

Remember to think vertical in small spaces. In garages and sheds this can give you lots of extra floor space. In big spaces avoid lots of open flat surfaces that act as clutter magnets.

Money

Knowing what you have in your cupboards, wardrobes and garages will thwart unnecessary duplicate purchases Maintaining household items, clothes, tools, enhances their longevity. Using a menu planner - or at least a shopping list - minimizes food wastage. Don't you just hate finding rotten things in the bottom of your fridge???

Keeping tabs on cheques, claims & other paperwork that means money to you, enables you to bank, cash or spend them in time. Knowing where your discount vouchers are and having a system for using them before they expire, can save you hundreds of dollars throughout the year.

Energy

Cleaning a cluttered house can take up to 40% more energy than cleaning an uncluttered one. A heavily cluttered house may not be able to be cleaned well at all, creating the possibility of health issues: asthma, allergies, or even stubbed toes and bruised knees!

When you get rid of things that no longer serve you, the energy in your home is renewed and you too benefit from more energy. You can think more clearly, sleep better and undoubtedly feel more motivated.

An organised home puts YOU in control of your ‘stuff' and not the other way ‘round.
