Hello [FIRSTNAME],
Is Time on Your Side? Time management, or self management? Time's not in our control, but our behaviour is. What could you do to manage yourself better and feel the benefits of 'more' time? Try these simple strategies:
- Schedule 15-20 minutes at the end of each week to clarify priorities and know what you want to achieve the following week.
- Schedule daily time to relax, day dream and zone out. You will be surprised at your increased productivity after these periods of 'blue-skying'.
I think Gandhi had it right when he said 'There is more to life than increasing its speed'
The Shoe Thing Happy to report I'm still on track - even had 3 days in Melbourne with no shoe purchases. Amazing isn't it?! Still reaping the benefits of loving my existing Imelda collection & enjoying less distracted shopping expeditions. And although I've discovered a great shoe invention recently, Shuella, your Shoe Umbrella it will have to wait another 8 months. (But who's counting!) Did you take up the challenge? What are you doing less of, in order to gain 'more'?
The Daily Grind Another nifty discovery this month is the KeepCup. The 'first barista standard useable coffee cup' claims the website. Ideal to avoid all those take away cups whilst still enjoying your favourite coffee from the coffee shop. Get really organised: keep one in the car, one in your handbag and one on your desk. Maximise the likelihood of actually remembering to take it to the coffee shop!
National Organising Week (NOW) Did you know there was such a thing? Well there is and it's on again, Australia-wide 7 - 13 September 2009. The week's been established to educate people about the benefits of getting organised and to promote the industry as a whole. Stay tuned for information on local & national workshops and events.
Tame the Email Beast TIP - Responding immediately to emails, even though your motivation may be valid (you want to deal with them asap) will create high expectations from recipients. Avoid a scenario where a delayed response of only a few hours ends up making you look 'slow' or 'slack'. Create your own email response policy and stick to it.
Latest Articles & Tips InOrder time saving tips were featured in the latest CLEO magazine. Take a look here. NineMSN picked up my latest FlyingSolo article; Top 5 Organising Tools for your office and yes, for those of you asking, the book is still in progress. Stay tuned!!!
Until next month
